|→||2.3 Installation on Windows|
Executable setup packages are available in the download area of the DK tools project at SourceForge. The default download when clicking the Download button is the executable setup for 64 bit Windows 7 (and newer).
If you need a 32 bit version or a version for legacy versions of Windows, click the "Browse all files" link. For 32 bit versions check for file names with "win32" in the name, for legacy versions of Windows check for files with "legacy" in the name.
Note: I only plan to provide versions for 64 bit Windows
7 as this is the only Windows version with Visual Studio I have
Due to retirement of old equipment it's becoming more and more difficult to get access to 32 bit Windows computers with VStudio...
Short summary: If you have a 32 bit computer or a Windows version before version 7 you should upgrade.
Run the executable setup. The setup program asks where to
install the software, you may change the installation directory as
dktools-win64-4.0.0.exe /SP- /SILENT /dir=C:\P\Kr
with minimum interaction during installation process.
For later DK tools versions correct the executable file name.
The /dir=... argument specifies the installation destination directory, you may want to customize it. When using spaces in the directory name, place the entire option in quotes, i.e.:
dktools-win64-4.0.0.exe /SP- /SILENT "/dir=C:\Program Files\Krause"
For the "normal" (not legacy) installation, an uninstallation procedure should remove DK tools completely.
If you installed the 32 bit legacy version, uninstallation does not remove some context menu entries. The RegDeleteTreeW() function used to uninstall context menu entries is not available on these Windows versions. Sorry for that. And once again: You should upgrade.
