When installing DK tools files for different purposes go into different directories:
|prefix||The installation base
Most files are installed into this directory and it's subdirectories.
This directory contains configuration files.
|bindir||Directory for executable files.|
|libdir||Directory for libraries and shared libraries.|
|datadir||Directory for resource files.|
|localstatedir||Directory for log files and temporary files.|
|mandir||Directory for manpages.|
When a program starts it retrieves the full path name of the executable file. The final part (the program name) is removed, so we get the bindir directory. If the bindir name ends on ``/bin'' (Unix/Linux) or ``\bin'' (Windows) the program finds the remaining directories as follows:
If the bindir name does not end on ``/bin'' or ``\bin'' the bindir name is used for the prefix directory and all other directories.
